Re: Update on my Step-Son, Simon

I give you my best, and share my goodwill with you.

Prayers be with you, and fortune too.

- B.

Edit:

Just to be certain, please tell me you're not putting him in special education...

The surgeries he had focused on the Frontal Lobes, and removing a lot of the left Frontal Lobe. We where told that this area of the brain is what gives a person drive, concentration, focus etc... It is clear that he is lacking in these areas, and when he has a hard time with something he will just shut down and not even try to do it. All that being said he is still in his reg classroom and that is where he will stay. He takes some test by himself with another teacher, but that is to keep him focus and not distracted.

At home during homework I provide the drive he needs LOL. We treat him just like any other kid!

Good to know, and I'm really glad to see that's how you look at it...

Special education is, atrocious in this country, and placing limits on people is never the answer... they thought I'd never become anything more than a regular person, and now I have a high IQ and a very capable position...

I will pray... and I fully expect him to make something wonderful of himself in all due time.

Keep that determination and persistence and you'll be rewarded.

Re: Update on my Step-Son, Simon

From last Thursday 9-24

Visited Dr. Baumgartner today for the 4 month visit. Was pretty uneventful, and that's a good thing. He said we will wait to see what the 23 hour EEG shows, and wait to see what medicine therapy changes Dr. Von Allmen makes. He was happy Simon's speech has improved since our last visit and that Simon has a good attitude about school. He wasn't surprised Simon's seizures returned, given how difficult his Epilepsy has been to treat. But he is not ready to say that's the best Simon will ever be. He is a great doctor. We are so lucky God led us to Dr. Von Allmen and to him!

The 23-hour EEG has been scheduled for Saturday, October 10th. That is Simon's birthday--he's turning 9. He is actually very OK with spending his birdhday in the EMU. He's an amazing little guy!

We stopped by the EMU this morning just to visit and say hi. Sara was working, and she was so excited to see Simon. She said she's going to try and make sure she's working that weekend. Simon was happy about that! They are all amazing people that work in that place. All of them! There's a special place in Heaven for people who help children!
