Missy took a turn for the worse this morning and we had to rush her back to the vet. Her heart was pounding and when she breathed it sounded like there was fluid in her lungs. Im gonna meet Laura down there at 5pm to pick her up. I guess she is ok so i dont know if it was the meds or she just sucked down some water. She was eating awfully fast last night. She looked really good when I woke up. Her swelling went down alot and she was looking like her old self. Hopefully all is well......shes made it this far....so we are not gonna give up on her.

Hope everything goes well for Missy, we will keep her in our thoughts.

You have a good vet there, it cost us almost that much when we kenneled our dog and cats a number of years ago.

Well she is back home again. Her breathing is back to normal but her heart rate is like 180 at times. Doc thinks maybe she has a blood clot in her heart and all we can do is wait for it to desolve. They did some more xrays of her heart and lungs. Guess every thing checks out ok. Im gonna take off early from work tonight and go sit with the wife on the couch.

With 4 dogs of my own, reading this thread today broke my heart, Koby. I hope she's feeling better this morning, and you two can relax and watch the game together, enjoying some perfect Father-Daughter moments.

Shes doing alot better this morning. We laid around all day on the couch and watched football. Huskers lost in the last 21 seconds of the game but oh well.....USC lost too so that made up for it. She ate some steak tonight. She eats pretty good but we dont want her to over do it so we hand feed her. Been giving her ice cubes instead of a bowl of water so she dont suck water down the wrong pipe again. Shes still pretty wobbly on her feet but she can walk around a bit. Got one more day of flushing out her wounds and we can go get the drain tube yanked. Thats pretty much all weve done in the last 2 days is take care of her round the clock. Got our alarm set so we can flush her out in the middle of the night. speaking of she is due again. Ill post more later.

Koby, I came to this thread late. I am sorry for your tragedy. Our dogs are like our children to us. I know how badly it hurts. My prayers for your 'family' and you. I hope that things get better.

Missy got her drain tube taken out today. Shes more alert today than she has been. Doc said her lungs sound good so the rough breathing must be from her throat. Most of her swelling has went down. So all in all she is doing good. Its gonna be a slow recovery. Doc said a good 3 or 4 months till she is anywhere close to being normal. Doc said when they clean her teeth in a few months they will go down and check her throat out more closely. They just dont want to put her through any more crap than she has to right now. She got pork chops to eat yesterday. She was happy. She loves anything in the meat group....and most things that arent.

Thats great news! I hpoe the healing continues without complications...
