Special cigars - Prayers needed
My wife's counsin, Ken, has terminal cancer and may just have a few weeks left. I only met him a few times but we became better acquinted during the last few months by trading email jokes.
One of his last wishes was to take a fishing trip to Canada with his dad, brothers and uncles. My father-in-law just returned from the 10-day trip with a special gift for me: 5'er of Phillies Blunt Banana 5'er of Phillies Blunt Mango 5'er of Swisher Sweets Honey Flavor A White Owl Blunts Xtra tubo Someone had brought these on the trip as a joke. Since I'm the cigar smoker in the family, it was decided that I should have them. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I thought you all would appreciate the gift and I hope you will keep Ken and his family in your prayers.

Re: Special cigars - Prayers needed
Sorry to hear about your wife's cousin. That truly is sad.
On the other topic if it makes you feel any better for my birthday my sister-in-law got me two 5ers of Garcia Y Vegas. I did not have the heart to say anything negative when she asked me if I liked them. For some strange reason I held on to them. I actually gave one away to my brother-in-law a couple weeks ago when I offered him a smoke. He could have had anything in the humis but he asked me if I had any 7-11 type cigars because all of my cigars knock him on his @ss. So wish granted. I gave him a terd and he was happier than a pig in sh$t about it to boot too. Come to thinking, they would make a hysterical bomb, but even I don't have the heart to mess with someone that bad. ![]() |

I dont think its the smokes that matter as much as the story behind them.
I will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers Jeremy

Re: Special cigars - Prayers needed
You know, life is simple and we all have only one shot. Enjoy these for what they are, a nice gift, but think about your loved ones when smoking and enjoy a laugh or a special moment devoted to your relative. My prayers are with you and with your family.

Those cigars will always remind you of the jokes you shared with Ken, and means that he will never be forgotten. i personaly would never give them away, apart form maybe sharing them with family members for the same reason you have them.
Im not a religious person but my thoughts are with you and your family. |

Re: Special cigars - Prayers needed
Great story, cancer is a bitch. It took my good friends 9 month old boy not too long ago. you want prayers...you can count on some from me.
And I was wondering if you are saving the cigars (in humidor) for special occasion, or kinda just playing it by ear for now. Flavored cigars can run havoc on neighboring cigars in a humidor, you way want to store them in a separate tuperdor. Stay strong through the rough times -Jeremy |

Ken is about my age (old guy) but still too young for this. Jeremy's post about his good friend's baby really struck a nerve. You always hear that God has a plan for all of us and that these tragedies happen for a reason. I've never heard a good explanation of why God would allow these things to happen to children. Maybe someday I'll understand. As for the cigars, I assume that they have been aging in a Walgreen’s somewhere for a while now. I didn't want to shock them by putting them in a humidified environment too quickly (lol). So, right now, they are just sitting on top of my coolerdor. I guess I will have to rig up a tuperdor or something. These cigars just mean too much to me to allow them to rot. Right now, I'm thinking that I ought to smoke one every year on Ken's birthday.
