Thoughts and prayers for my fiancee

So after a few weeks of tests my fiancee received the news today that she has MS. Obviously this is quite scary news. We a both doing our best to be strong. If anyone has any experience with a love one with MS please send me a PM. There is so much info online but it would be great to speak to someone with first hand experience. Thank you all.

"At this time, there are no symptoms, physical findings or laboratory tests that can, by themselves, determine if a person has MS. The doctor uses several strategies to determine if a person meets the long-established criteria for a diagnosis of MS and to rule out other possible causes of whatever symptoms the person is experiencing."

It's always been my understanding that MS can only be diagnosed with an autopsy. I do know that the "placebo effect" can wreak havoc on someone who thinks they have MS, and that is not anything I wish for with anyone. Let alone their loved one. Stay strong my friend. Being in the pharmacy profession (in my past) , I have first hand experience at seeing something like Betaseron work wonders with people....

(My Mom was "diagnosed" by one Dr. while others didn't think is was, and while it sucked for several years, she has since been in "remission" and has never looked back. There is hope brother!)

Thank you all! I'm sure I will reach out if I need to.

Edog, she was diagnosed because it looks like this was her second attack and see has brain lesions following the pattern of ms. . The doctor prescribed her gilenya. It's a new pill on the market, that seems to have little to no side effects. Fortunately this attacks was relatively mild. I thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers!

From what I know it takes an MRI of the brain to see it, my wife's mother has to get one every year and see a specialist to see if there is any progression.

That's correct. She had 2 MRI "s done. The first was an open MRI so they needed to redo it with a stronger one. The hardest part of this is not to overthink. Ms varies so much from person to person.

My Aunt had a scare with MS. Her doctor thought she had symptoms of MS. Actually was all the diet pepsi/coke and artificial sweetners taking a toll on her body.

So, please get a 2nd 3rd or 4th opinion from other doctors before thinking the worst. I have had family members told they had Cancer. Then they went to another doctor who had better testing and they determined it was not cancer.

So, I hope that your doctor is wrong!!!
