Thanks everyone for all the well wishes & prayers. Took moms over to the USC Medical Center & to make a long story short, I got pissed off.
We arrive: 10:00am Appt for consultation: 10:30am Moms name gets called: 11:30am Doc steps into room: 12;20 pm Doc: Hello, how are you? Me: Excuse me, is that an expensive wristwatch? Doc: Not really but I like it (looked like a Rado). Me: Maybe you should put a new battery in it. Do you know what time it is? Doc: Yes, Im sorry its kind of late, but we were busy. Me: Oh really? I know what busy is like, and this is not acceptable considering you are the Chief of Service & Program Director for the Dept of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery. Doc: Again, my appologies. Me: Okay, but maybe you should get a better wristwatch tonight Chief. Thats how it started. He then asks my mom for a CD of her MRI & PET scans. She never got it from her physician. He says he needs it & she should call and request it & then FedEx it, since he'll need it. Me: Wait a minute, you need the CD right? Doc: Yes I do. Me: This appointent for consultation was made a week ago upon her doctors referral to you. You knew then you would need the CD right? Doc: Well...normally they would send it. Me: So obviously you knew you needed it, but didnt get it. Why didnt you request it so it would be here knowing she was going to be here for the consultation? Doc: Sometimes they give it to the patient. Me: Really? What the !@#$ is my mom gonna do with her MRI scan? Go home & check it out on the computer???? At this point Im starting to lose it, but compose myself as to not freak mom out anymore than she already is. Dad's mumbling bad words under his breath at this point as well. So all in all, nothing got accomplished this week. I currently have the CD he requested and will FedEx it this morning for Monday morning arrival. Sorry folks but people sometimes just piss me off. ....but thats for again for all the prayers & I'll let you all know what happens. Kelly |
