This is a discussion on What is your most reliable watch within the Watches forums, part of the Everything But Cigars category; I've had a plain Citizen Eco-drive for about three years. Absolutely love it. Retails for around $100 or so.
When I think affordable, reliable, I immediately think of Victorinox Swiss Army (VSA). I am currently debating on my next watch, and I cannot decide between the Maverick GS Chrono, Airboss Mach 3 or Infantry Vintage Chrono.
There are others affordable (sub 700$) watches with japanese movement like Seiko, Citizen, Bulova and such. You might want to check out Hamilton watches also, I especially love the Open Heart one with white/gray face!
The best watch to value is hands down the casio gshock.
Right on. They can't be beat when it comes to affordability, ruggedness, and reliability. I have a drawer full of fancier watches that I have accumulated over the years but the only one I ever wear anymore is my G-Shock Gulfman. It's solar powered and calibrated to the atomic clock. All I ever need to do is strap it on. Only problem is, it's ugly as sin. Then again, so am I!
