Humidor RH Question

I recently got into cigars a little over a month ago and rapidly growing my selection. In this time i went from a 100ct desktop humidor to a 2000ct cabinet.
This one to be exact (https://yourelegantbar.com/products/...waAvFjEALw_wcB)

At first i was having issues with condensation, so i removed the metal cooling plate from the inside of the unit which was causing the condensation and i plugged the drain hole. Now, no condensation what so ever.
I have 4 lbs of HF beads in there and i rewired the unit to use a Raspberry pi to control the heating (not really needed here in south Florida), cooling, fans, and lights all automatically and remotely if need be. This lets me control the environment within a +/-2 deg variance instead of +/-4 from the factory circuit board. There is a fail safe back to the factory circuit board, should the Pi fail.

The RH is stable at 65% +/-1%. When the cooler kicks on at temps above 70F, the RH falls to about 55-58%.
The cooler only stays on about 8 minutes each time, before shutting off when the temp drops below 68F. After this...the RH springs back up to a stable at 65% +/-1% as it was before in about 5-10 minutes. this happens about once ever 2-3 hours.

So this leads me to my question...Should i be worried about this drop in RH for those short periods of time? The cigars smoke great btw, but it's only been about a week with this new setup, so i just want to be preemptive.

Thanks in advance!

Wow talk about a size jump 😱. I thought me going to a 150 count was big. And in my smaller humidor i go from 63-69 when the temp swings throught the day and i havent noticed anything. But im still relatively new to all this as well.

IMHO, the drop in humidity for that time period is insignificant. It would take about a week at that lower RH to lower the RH of the actual cigars by 1%.

Sounds like a nice set up! And since I didn't say hello in your introduction post...Welcome from Arizona!

Yea...I do this kind of thing lol. Started small, then got too full and was going to buy another desktop humi, but i didn't want 10 desktop humis laying around. I got this one at a great deal brand new, so i couldn't say no.

Humidor RH Question

I agree what has been said. Short period swings doesn’t do any harm. Kind of the same affect as opening your humi showing off your stock, grabbing a smoke then shutting. Every time you do that your humidity drops but recovers quickly.

And by the way....you went from wearing water wings in the kiddy pool to full on Michael Phillips in the big boy pool! Nice set up!

I hear you. I'm not married (yet) though lol. The girlfriend is ok with it because it's still "My money", for now
Plus, she's getting into it too. Tries every new stick i try. Her favorite so far, Tabak Dulce and AF Short Story

Wait until it becomes:
"What's hers is hers."
"What's mine is hers."
"What's ours is hers."
Then you'll know you're married!! :Joke:
