It seems that my briars are suffering from my lack of proper cleaning. My cons don’t seem to have been affected equally.
With the pipe completely cool I draw through the empty pipe and get a sour/burnt taste. This taste also comes through while actually smoking. I’ve only noticed slight flavor between different tobaccos, but mostly a burnt/bitter taste.
Would the above cleaning suggestions with hot water work in this situation?
I think David @
Piper covered it pretty well, it depends on how bad they are as to how radical you need to get, I would probably start with hot water and go from there. The water does dull a waxed finish but I’ve found that a quick rubdown with a pipe polishing cloth with bring back the glow, I haven’t noticed any effect on a varnish or lacquer finish.
If I see a stick that made a noob nic sick,I put it on my list as a must try. (UBC03)
