Re: Why so much hate for flavored cigars?

I think the only infused sticks I really have any interest in trying are the JAVA's. Then again, I like coffee infused anything... The perfumy smell of Acid cigars always put me off.

No hate here. Infused sticks got me back into smoking cigars. But now that I've learned the proper way to enjoy a cigar and my palate has developed I prefer traditional smokes. You may find that you do too over time... But until that time comes smoke what you like and like what you smoke!

Don't wait too long on those Tabaks... Infused sticks actually lose flavor if rested too long.

Keep them far far away!

My favs of the non coffee infused are the Acid Kuba Maduro, Deep Dish, and Extraordinary Larry.

For coffee infused - Tabak Especial Negra

You will find little love for infused cigars here,
but that should never stop you from enjoying them yourself.

Variety is the spice of life....Try what you can, and smoke what you like.

The reality is that many new guys experiment with them, and then move on .

An oath has no expiration date....

Re: Why so much hate for flavored cigars?

It's not hate that you see, it's more of a ridicule.

It's basically the same idea as drinking one of those sugery, fruity mixed drinks at a bar. You can do it if you're a girl, but if you're a guy, even if you really like overly-sweet drinks, every other guy around will rib you for drinking something fruity.

Most smokers see flavored/infused tobacco as the same thing - people who can't handle straight tobacco get the flavored kind to help it go down.

Now personally, I don't have a problem with them, I just don't like how overly-sweet most of them are, though I haven't smoked many. The Drew Estate Java is one I enjoy on occasion, and I have a Tabak that was gifted to me that I'm looking forward to trying. If I feel like smoking straight chocolate, the CAO's Eileen's Dream cigarellos are literally like smoking a chocolate bar. But in general, most experienced smokers prefer the unadulterated taste of tobacco, without the sweeteners and flavors.

Hey i bet i know where you got that Tabak.... Fair warning it does have a sweetened cap. I personally like the Tabaks more than the Javas...

Re: Why so much hate for flavored cigars?

i smoked the occasional black and mild back in the day, but i think it comes down to the culture of puff.

this is a website dedicated to the discussion of cigars and contains in depth user reviews of nuanced flavors of cigars. a lot of people on here could tell you where a cigar came from by smoking it. the subtly of the cigar is part of what makes it good, imho. i'm sure there are a lot of people who love smoking flavored cigars, but it's more or less completely different from smoking a fine stick made in the traditional fashion.

when i was in college we drank natural light and plastic bottle vodka, bud light or absolut was our choice when we scraped together a little money. over time though i find that i like darker beers and kettle one or tito's as opposed to the stuff i drank in college, which i can hardly stand to taste now. it's a maturation of your tastes, but don't think that you're immature for liking something that other people don't.

i've always been of the opinion that if you love a cigar, even if it's cheap or looked down upon by other people, then smoke it and enjoy it. if you find that $1 sticks taste better to you than $20 sticks, then you're luckier than a lot of guys who shell out big bucks to smoke what they like.
