Right.....because a plain-jane Oliva Serie V is better than a Bolivar Belicoso Fino. LOL

I guess since Habano manufacturers dont buy ad space, and Olivia does, it explains why such rating. Looking at it this way, I would assume that Habano is much better than anything that would be ranked higher, as it definitely deserved its place on the list, while others bought their place on the same list.

To the reviewers, yes. They had the Serie V Melanio Figurado as #1 in 2014.

Remember, there's no bands on them so "Cuban hype" can't make its way in to this, assuming they are telling the truth about the process.

Makes sense, since the Bolivar is better after a few years than ROTT. The oliva is better fresher than it is after a few years..

That kind of gets in to another thing I have always wondered about the Habanos on the list. CA says their process is to make a list of all the cigars rated 91+ (if I recall) throughout the year in the mag, remove duplicates (I suspect this means they only review a single size/vitola for a particular brand/line), and then buy all the remaining cigars "at retail" for the year end test. Since they are in the US how and where are they getting the Habanos "at retail?" Being based in NYC are they driving up to Canada to get them, sourcing from overseas, or something else? For all the other cigars rated they can visit any local tobacconist and get boxes of well kept cigars to rate, I'm not sure the way they source the Cubans ensure they have been as well kept.

Didn't see it coming either. It does have the makings of COTY though. A complex and flavorful cigar with a unique shape and very nice band.

Totally agree it is worthy of it. Kinda sad I only snagged a few this year and either smoked or bombed them away was very box worthy lol
