I donít have any opportunity to hunt where I live because the deer season is strategically scheduled during the hottest months when your sure to have little chance of animals moving around. Thanks California...

That and there is not much land open to public hunting unless you are willing to hike big mountains in the wilderness. Because of this, we have very few hunting accidents. The guys who are passionate about hunting have to work their ass off to get a deer so the woods are not dense with people running around with high powered rifles. And those who are, take it very seriously.

Iíve hunted in upstate New York on private property that is owned by very cautious and intelligent people. You would never catch me walking around the woods on public land in those parts. Just seem to be littered with irresponsible knuckle heads who shoot at anything that moves.

I own several guns and love to shoot, but I was introduced to guns at a very young age by men who did not tolerate foolishness.

I donít own any guns and I have no problem with those that do.
For you owners, do you think more safety courses could prevent accidents, or is it a matter of you canít fix stupid?
Sorry for the hijack.

I have a dear friend that lives in Iceland.
Its not about training or who has or has not.
IMHO Its about conducting ones self responsibly.

Huntin Season...whatcha kill ?

Got this 3.5 year old buck 3 days ago. He was out cruising for some does in a hardwood bottom. Grunted him in to about 80 yards and stopped him for an easy broad side shot. I almost missed the shot but got lucky and clipped the bottom of his heart. He decided to run all the way down a muddy wash out way down the hill right after we had 35 hours of straight rain in Chatahoochee County GA. Long and slippery drag back to the top. Heís not a monster but Iím proud of him anyways.
