.

Wow it only takes me the first five minutes to have the nic hit run down my legs. Yes it's stout but man it grows on you like no other pipe tobacco I've had. Then again I've only been a piper for 7 years.

I must have a naturally high nicotine tolerance then (just started smoking a pipe last November -- have never and will never touch cigarettes).

You are wise to stay away from cigs. I used to chew tobacco and smoke cigs. I now keep it to pipes and cigars. There is nothing more comforting than smoking a pipe.

Indeed. My grandfather was a lifelong smoker and died of lung cancer. Granted, he was in his early 80s, but still, I have no desire to inhale or become slave to the cancer sticks.

BTW, greetings from a fellow Mountaineer. Though I am in TN (soon to be NC) now, I am originally from the Charleston/Huntington area.

Always great to hear from a fellow Mountaineer. I'm not real familiar with Charleston but I'm getting to know Huntington. My son is in his first year of grad school at Marshall. Huntington seems like a nice area with the university and bars restaurants.

I graduated from Marshall myself. Huntington is a nice little town, though like much of the state it has been hit hard by the opioid epidemic. Not a huge issue unless you're looking to get in trouble anyway, though...

Yes our beautiful state has been hit hard with the opioid problems. I just read an article where deaths from overdoses has decreased so we are hoping there is some light at the end of the tunnel. I'm hoping to get down there soon for a weekend. I hear there is a pretty good German restaurant there which gives me additional motivation to get down there. Go Herd!!!

Lately, my main go to is MacBaren HH Burley Flake, only to be substituted by Solani Aged Burley Flake, but the HH hits on all cylinders for me.

Recently, the only Virginia Iím reaching for is Rattrayís Marlin Flake. I was very partial to Dunhill Flake for a year or so, but lately itís a bit thin to me and I have a couple tins of Dunhill Dark Flake Iím thinkingís of trying.

Lately, Iím not getting much of any smoke time, so I really make them count.

Hunt Hard, Kill Swiftly, Waste Nothing, Offer No Apologies...

I smoke a lot of variety, like most of you guys, but lately my "go to" has been C&D's Briar Fox. I thought it was bland at first but after a few bowls I figured it out and have since been in love. It burns so well that it's tough to have a bad bowl and the flavor is subtle but complex. It pairs perfectly with coffee.
