Question My tobacco gets an ash taste after I relight

Help! It happens often after I smoke a half a bowl, then tamp it out. Thirty minutes later I relight my pipe, and the flavor has turned peppery like tongue bite. It happens in both my mouth and my nose. Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone else get this. The first part of the bowl is great, but if I tamp it out and come back....not so good. It tastes like ash. I'm a noob. Everyone knows.....grrrr.

My advice, don’t Tamp it out let it burn out on its own. Then before relight lightly dump/tap ash out of the bowl.

That's sounds like a great idea JtAv8tor! I'm going to try it in about 10 minutes. Thanks bud.
