Re: Cuban Cigar Grades

A friend of mine travels the world on gun-buying expeditions for his business. From what I recall, he held that Switzerland got the best stuff. He didn't seem too impressed by what he'd sampled in Spain (which surprised him), and he thought Russia got the worst.

Reaching for the black-and-yellow-striped lever next to my seat....

I was lucky enough to be on the receiving end of one of those care packages and let me be the first to say they smoked like a dream... I think the grades may help explain the price difference between cigars from one region to another. England and Europe in general tend to be most expensive even if you take taxation out of the equation.

Re: Cuban Cigar Grades

There are no grades of Cuban cigars period.

There are special deals for some regions or countries as far as pricing, selection, etc.

Some markets have better pricing with Cuba, like Spain. That is why they are cheaper. Taxes also play a role.

EMS means nothing other than the cigars are inspected. I bought only EMS for a few years. The quality was no better than anywhere else. They don't inspect every box and even if you did, a visual isn't always going to tell you much about construction, blend, etc.
