Oh man, I guess I'm lucky and haven't stumbled across much of this! But yeah there is a faction of... I don't even know what it is, smoke blowing fetish? Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Anywho, on actual newbie pipe smoking information, I should have mentioned it before, but RequiemPipes (Gustavo, who I think is here on puff as Requiem!) set up a bunch of playlists for new pipesters on a channel "4pipenewbies" - here's a link:

All good stuff, cheers

Who else is glad they had pipe smokin' grandpas and dads so they didn't ever have to ask noob questions? histle:
hahahahaha! j/k lol and any other indications I'm just playin' around!

Seriously, just don't try to make it harder than it is(n't). Fill 'er up, fire up, tamp down and take it easy! It's fun!

Missouri Meerschaum corn cob pipe (any of the models)!

I would recommend an MM cob because it will give you a good smoke, won't ghost so you can try many different tobaccos to begin with, and it's quite cheap compared to briars so it will allow you to try a pipe without spending much to decide if you like it. As others have mentioned, check out the NPS trade (link). There, you buy a tin for an experienced pipe smoker, and they send you a variety of samples. So with a cob and the NPS, you should easily be spending less than $30, and you will have a good smoking cob, and probably 4-8 different tobaccos!

just do the noob sampler (the thread is in a sticky) and get a corn cob pipe... it will cost you about $10 to find out if you like it or not. I just hopped over to the cigar one and it got me hooked on another thing I don't have money for
