CAO VR Moby Review

Cigar: Cao VR Moby
Size: Moby (Toro) (6.0"x50)
Strength: Medium
Wrapper: Brazilian

Binder: Brazilian
Filler: Mexican, Nicaraguan
Price: $6
Storage: 2 months 65%rh

Initial Impression/Prelight

The stick had a nice solid feel to it, a slightly oily appearance and a nice tobacco smell. I cut it using a 2 blade cutter. Prelight draw was free flowing. No particular flavors jump out at me prelight.

1st Third

I found the first third to be slightly spicy with mild woody undertones. It produced a nice amount of smoke but kept a nice cool draw.

2nd Third

The second third got a little bolder in flavor. I found it to have a strong nutty flavor with undertones of fresh nutmeg. I think a nice cup of fresh eggnog would compliment it well. The stick kept a very nice burn and still a cool smoke.

Final Third

The final third I think mellowed in flavor a bit. Still plenty flavorful but a milder sweet aftertaste with just a hint of spice. The smoke got a little warmer towards the end.

Overall Impressions
I found it to be a very enjoyable smoke. I did not think it was one of the most complex smokes I have ever had but this did not detract from it. Construction and burn where excellent for the price. I would smoke it again. The price point offers a very enjoyable experience without breaking the bank.

Appearance: 10/15 Nice looking, but not top notch
Flavor: 18/25
Good flavor and transitions
Smoking characteristics: 25/25
Nice burn, construction, smoke profile.
Overall impression and value: 28/35
Total: 81/100

I also have enjoyed the CAO Black, Brazila, and Italia.

Re: CAO VR Moby Review

I agree. I have yet to develop a good palate, but I definitely liked the VR I had, too. It didn't give me a beating
Like the LGC Serie R. Thanks for the review, Ryan.

Re: CAO VR Moby Review

Thank you for the review. This is one CAO I haven't tried yet. I enjoy their Cameroon L'Anniversaire and Italia primarily. I've also enjoyed a 5 year slow aged American. It was so pretty, with it's barber pole wrapper, I put off smoking it for the longest time. I look forward to sampling this effort by CAO.
