Power = Nope

Had some brisk wind and rain come through today, from Irma... Was doing well until the transformer exploded. Not sure how long until it gets restored, but at least I have plenty of tobacco to pass the time. No other damages and no one injured so am very grateful for that.

We have gas and water still, and plenty of food, drinks, ice, and can cook and take hot showers, so I'm looking at it like a camping trip but with my own bed.

Hope everyone out there made it through the storm ok.

I'm right there with ya bro. (except for the ice, cooking, and hot water). I've got a house full and really hope the power lines get fixed soon. I estimate we'll be ok for a few more days; after which I'll have to make a supply run and hope that I can find what we'll need. Other than that, I'm grateful. Many more people got it much worse than we did and my heart aches for them.

Ours clicked off a half dozen times last night but was able to reset within 30 seconds - I finally gave up resetting the clocks until this AM.

We fared well considering what the folks in FL faced.

I'm in Tampa, more specifically Riverview and I am amazed. The storm came almost directly over us and we never lost power. We lost a palm tree and some soffit screening, but that's about it.

The worst thing to happen was being rear ended at a 4 way stop because the driver behind me was on his phone. Everyone is fine, but I was livid because 1. My wife is pregnant and 2. My truck is 4 months old.

Sigh... thank god for insurance. After all, it's just stuff.

Glad you're alright (from both events), but I just had to chuckle a bit and shake my head at the irony of it. You come through a huge storm virtually unscathed and it's some [email protected] on their phone that causes you damage. Go figure. SMH!

They actually shut down the base here today, so another day off for me. We got some wind and rain last nigh maybe some more today but nothing bad.

We live in a nice pocket of rolling hills here in NW Atlanta...just some rain. The grocery stores were mobbed and raided with no water...no milk or bread...dumbasses think it's the 2nd coming. Reading this morning that these same jackasses are wanting to return the water they bought to get their money back....WTF!!!! Just a thought to these brain dead sumbiches...donate it to those poor souls who actually need it instead of pressing your GD noses against the automatic glass doors 5 minutes before Kroger and Publix opens to get your $5 back. Unbelievable!

I remember going through a typhoon in Okinawa when I was a kid. My brothers and I loved it. No school, all the power was out. We each got to use our own flashlights and the family ate Army k-rations. Camping at home !
