pipe tenon too small for filter

Hi. I bought a lovely vintage Danbark pipe, but the tenon hole is too small to fit a filter. Is this what they mean by a filterless pipe? I cut a third of a 6mm Falcon filter lengthwise and managed to fit it in, but couldn't get a draw. The only reason I'd like to put a filter in is to stop bits of tobacco leaf getting into my mouth. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It sounds like it is a non-filtered pipe, it also sounds like you might be drawing a bit to hard if you’re getting more than just an occasional piece of tobacco.
Take a pipe cleaner and insert it thru the bit, shank and into the bowl then load your tobacco, when you pull out the cleaner it should leave a small opening in the bottom of the bowl. This might help a little.
Something else you can try is to separate a few of the longer strands of tobacco and load them first, this will act kinda like a screen in the bottom of the bowl .
Hope this helps a little.

If I see a stick that made a noob nic sick,I put it on my list as a must try. (UBC03)

If you HAVE to have a filter then I suggest what the brother said above. I use to use a filter but not anymore as it doesn't really make that much of a difference esp. when you consider it for health issues. Thats like driving a couple of extra car lengths behind the city bus to escape pollution.
