Had this for a year and it’s as good as any of my others except my Duponts.

For a pipe I've had great luck with this Brog side lighter. I want to say that I paid around $15 online. Probably fleabay. Even has a tamp that slides out. Not as good as the 3 in 1 tamp, but handy. Capacity is decent too.

It's always been matches and bics for me. I do have this idea in my head that one day I'll buy a nice and fancy pipe lighter that I can pass down the family tree.

Sutliff sent me a pipe lighter similar to the vertigo, but since my Xikar thin, pen like pipe lighter ate up flint and didn’t reliably hold the same amount of fluid I bought a Corona side lighter. I’ve been truly pleased with it over the last few months. It electronic and yet zero failures. It’s PVD coated in black and a wee bit less that the Old Boy style.

It’s definitely my favorite for pipes. Highly adjustable, with just a bit of finger nail.

I am fine with a disposable BIC when traveling, but the Corona has a tool built in that will pull right out, flat circle head and thin rod. If you twist it half way down it will lock for tamping if you don’t need to poke at your bowl, which I don’t do much of these days.
