Question Filter Question

Hey everyone, can anyone recommend some various filters?
I'd like to try a few different filters and see how they smoke.

Thanks a million, Prozac

I've never used one. But I've cleaned ALOT of old pipes that had filters. They were gummed up, nasty, stinking(literally) messes.. that's one of reasons I use surgical gloves when I clean pipes. That and I don't know what killed the person that smoked em before I got em

Ever had a pipe gurgle. That's spit going down into the hosel. That gets caught up in the filter along with moisture from the smoke and tar . I don't see how you'd be able to get a draw after a couple bowls. You don't inhale pipe smoke like you do coffin nails. (Well, most people don't). So what's their purpose other than to cut the amount of smoke, dull the taste and catch your drool.. don't know

useless bits of rolled paper or balsa , in my opinion..

Pipe Filters right?
If I was gonna use one it would be the Savinelli balsa filters.

I use them sometimes, just the common Dr. Grabow ones in my filter cobs. I find them useful for toning down bite on some aromatics, and to help collect moisture. I believe more people use them then what you would think from reading on here, since they seem widely available, someone has to be buying them. If you do use one just change it after every bowl and you shouldn't have much problem with drawing through them. That is my experience anyway.

Exclamation

Well, when I first got the pipe, a filter was already in it. I used to never use a filter, but full disclosure, I inhaled 2 out of 10 puffs. The rest I puffed and exhaled out of my mouth and nose. That works for me, but I'm not very good yet at mouth and nose. But I do wonder why there is a stigma on inhaling, if you keep it infrequent. Most pipe smokers in Holland tossed the filter though. If that helps any
