Rattray's Accountant's Mixture
Picked this up recently from rlaliberty. Really glad I did. Decided to give it a shot in my new '66 Duhill pot I picked up from MadHatter! Apparently Ryan bought this in '09 so it's got some age on it.
Open the tin and the aromas are lovely. Sweet virginias and tangy latakia. The aromas have married so well that this just seems decadently mature.
This is very similar to Black Mallory. Full flavored with the virginia being a very good base of sweetness and the latakia rounding it out with that great english flavor. The black cavendish comes out every once in a while as well. It's not quite as tangy as BM though. It's very smooth and creamy. The latakia has a leathery, licorice flavor. There is absolutely no bite in this either.
This is a great full flavored english that's moving toward a balkan but not quite. Give this a shot for a full english!
Oh, and the Dunhill pipe....this thing just feels right in my hand and smoking it as well. I'm very pleased!
It was.....well, let's just say it was.
