Dottle Defender (Pocket/Pipe Protector)

My girlfriend was knitting last night and she asked me what she could make me, I told her a pipe sleeve so she went ahead and made me one then Kyle and I discussed the possibilities of this pipe sleeve.
1) If you put your pipe in your pocket, it will offer protection from scratches caused by keys and other belongings.
2) If you were to put a half smoked pipe in your pocket there would be no dottle in your pockets.
3) They would be easy to clean if they ever got dirty.
4) They would be able to be made in any size to fit any pipe or jacket pocket.
5) It would offer protection from stains in standard shirt pockets too.

For now it is just an idea and we want to know what the interest would be in these. There are a few questions I would like to ask.

1) Can you see this as a potential item that pipe smokers would like?
2) If you could get one would you buy one?
3) If they were for sale what would you think a fair price on them would be?

Thank you everybody in advanced! Here are some photos so you all can see what I am talking about

I'm definitely in for one of these. Am I the only one who is constantly turning his jackets upside down to empty the dottle out of pockets? The "hairy" surface of the pouch collects stray dottle like a magnet. Here's a better view of the pictures...

Well, it's better than a sock... is it common to put a half smoked or just smoked pipe in your pocket?

Man I wish I had something witty and inspiring to say. Or even a URL to share.

As a college student it happens more than you think, one of the best times to smoke is on the commute to classes or even just going outside to smoke a pipe and then visiting a friends room it is a nice handy place to put your pipe.

I think its nice for anyone that smokes pipe all the time. I walk around daily with a pipe in my shirt pocket. It sucks to fill, smoke, and empty every time I light up. You end up wasting 2-3 bowls of unsmoked tobacco a day. For that reason, it's very common to just throw the pipe back in a pocket and let it go out on its own.

Now that you say that, I have been experiencing problems with putting lit cigars in my pocket...

I like it! Could you add a little pocket on the out side to hold a lighter and nail? May make it easier to access then just throwing them in your pocket. Kinda like this but just 2 little sleeves. sleeve just something on the outside to keep everything together. But ya I would probably buy one for $10.00 or less. Dont know if that would make it worth her time.

That sounds like a fair price, right now we are just seeing if we get enough intrest in them to actually go somewhere, Im sure the pockets on the outside would be possible, I will keep posting on here with more updates.

Re: Dottle Defender (Pocket/Pipe Protector)

I mostly smoke at home but this would still be handy. I could definitely see some of the outdoorsy type puffers going for them. $10 is probably around a fairy price, could probably stretch it to $15 and definitely with a pocket for lighter and tamper.
