I WISH I could make the same amount of money just playing original music (some very dance worthy actually!), but it's just not the way the biz works any more.

I used to make a decent chunk of change from song royalties, but with the widespread use of Spotify/Apple Music/YouTube/etc, my royalty check this year was a little more than 8 dollars. EIGHT DOLLARS!! Mostly because labels signed horrible rights deals with streaming services. While spotify makes millions, they pay the artists on their platform 1/12 of one penny for each time a track is played. I love Spotify from a consumer angle, but certainly not from an artist angle.

Anyway, ranting... I'm 40 now and a bit jaded. When we are on stage, no matter what gig we are playing, we definitely have a good time. My bandmates are like brothers and sisters to me, so the hang is great too.
Name a song and we'll all put it on loop! Anything to enable - lol

Hahaha, I love it!

There was a band that actually did this... made an entire album of silence and asked their fans to put their silent album on repeat while they slept. I think they ended up making 20k in royalties off that until Spotify caught wind. They honored the fee, but redinied what a "song" is to prevent that from happening again. I guess Spotify has never heard of John Cage's 4'33"!!
