Orient watch as gift - advice and/or alternatives?

Looking at getting an Orient dress watch as a Christmas gift for a 28 y/o. Leaning toward either Symphony II or III in Black.

Pricing I'm seeing is $150 on the Symphony II and $170 on the Symphony III, though that's pushing my budget a little (was planning to go spend $100-$125). It appears Symphony III features upgraded movement that adds manual winding and hacking. It also has very subtle styling changes, but drops to mineral crystal. The Symphony II is auto only, but has sapphire crystal.

Also considered a Bambino Gen.2 Ver.1 at about $110. But I think the more modern styling of the Symphony with its flat face and crystal might suit him better than the domed ones on the Bambino.

Any advice on these, or on other brands I should be looking at?

Flat faces are classy, convex are old school.

I can definitely recommend the Glycine brand. Great Swiss value watch. The company was bought by the Invicta group a couple years back, but they were smart enough to leave Glycine to themselves as an autonomous unit. No change in quality. More of a sports and military brand and styling though.

The Orient brand is about as good as you can get for a non-Swiss budget watch. They are a subsidiary of Seiko and use their own in-house movements or modified Miyota movements.

Seiko is another great brand with some budget minded models as well.

No matter your choice, just remember that quartz movement watches take a 65% or greater hit in value over the 25%-45% that a mechanical watch takes.

I said "more modern styling"; nothing about being classy or not.

Lovely watches all. How Thick are they?

Hopefully I'm not hi-jacking this thread...BUT

AM I the Only one that HATES the HUGH HOCKEY PUCK watches these days? I love the Slim Italian (1/8" - 3/16" thick) watches.

ANYONE ELSE?

When you feel like you have too many cigars without anywhere to put them....you ACTUALLY have a 'Space' problem and need to get more 'Space' for more cigars. I hope this is clear.
